Navigating Independence: A Journey with The Color-Coded Chef Kit

Our journey with The Color-Coded Chef Kit commenced at Empower: Abilities in Springfield, MO, where my daughter Izzi and I explored an accessible residence. Drawn by her love for cooking, Izzi found the kit an easy choice. She revels in hands-on cooking experience, building culinary skills and independence.

The color-coded system, simplifying measurements, has significantly benefited Izzi, especially since numbers pose a challenge. Her confidence has soared, particularly in tasks like independent ingredient cutting. Proudly, Mom shares Izzi's journey of independently preparing a salad, showcasing her expanding skills. The roller cutter and mat are a safety net for Izzi's independent cooking adventures, empowering her in the kitchen. The joy of creating together is evident, especially in activities involving slicing and dicing. Her favorite brownie recipe has become her signature bake, and she confidently bakes for school events, asserting her independence. The kit fosters inclusivity by enabling her to share her creations with confidence.

I firmly believe that this kit is a wonderful kit for EVERY family.  Little ones can use the cutter and mat safely.  They can use color-coded measuring cups and spoons instead of the typical ones because colors sometimes make more sense than numbers.  Instead of numbers, colors are more accessible to spot on the cups and spoons.  Because of the superb quality of the products in the kit, the kit grows with the family and will last a long time.

Because the recipe instructions are easy to follow, Izzi is confident reading and following instructions in other ways, like playing board games.  She can talk with peers and adults about cooking and baking.  Being able to articulate helps with conversation skills and socializing.  Working independently in the kitchen translates to working independently in other areas, from doing her own make-up to cleaning her room.  Confidence in the kitchen has led to confidence outside the kitchen; confidence enhances a sense of independence.
