Lesson 7 Is Here: Microwave Cooking Boom Cards Are Now Available!

We are excited to announce the launch of Lesson 7: Microwave Cooking in our Boom Cards series! This new lesson helps learners build confidence using one of the most common kitchen appliances—the microwave. Students will learn important microwave safety skills, identify microwave-friendly foods, and practice following directions in a clear, interactive format.

Lesson 7 includes a pre- and post-test to help measure student understanding before and after the lesson. This makes it easy for teachers, parents, and support professionals to track progress and see how much confidence and knowledge the learner has gained.

The lesson also includes a grocery shopping activity connected to the food lab, helping learners practice identifying ingredients and making real-world shopping choices. This supports independence beyond the kitchen by connecting recipe preparation with planning, shopping, and decision-making.

Also included is a new multiple-choice Boom Card deck focused on identifying kitchen tools. Each card shows a picture of a kitchen item with three word choices, giving learners practice with vocabulary, visual recognition, and word-picture matching. With 42 cards included and 12 cards randomly presented during each play session, students can enjoy repeated practice while keeping the activity fresh and engaging.
